Oh hey there,
I hope you've had a great week!
I read something incredibly interesting, which has really stayed with me: In physics, a particle doesn’t actually choose its path until it’s observed.
Or, put more simply, stuff behaves differently just because someone’s looking.
Now, before you turn away thinking what the hell I'm on about, stick with me... Because leadership works in exactly the same way.
Yes, I can't believe I created a link between physics and leadership either, quite frankly.
However, the truth is, the way you look at your team changes how they show up.
Your attention isn’t neutral. It’s powerful.
Think about it:
- Keep spotting mistakes → you’ll create fear.
- Notice effort → you’ll create momentum.
- Only care about output → culture quietly slips out the back door.
Your attention doesn’t just describe reality - it shapes it.
So, something for you to ponder:
When it comes to your team (as a whole or individuals), how do you view them?
- How is your perspective shaping reality?
- Could something else be true?
- And how might you find that out?
Put simply, my friends, what realities might you be unconsciously creating?
Have a wonderful week - I'll be heads down in the GCSE physics book...
